NASHVILLE GROOVE LACROSSE |
![]() |
|
![]() The Groove is a competitive, travel lacrosse club based in Nashville, Tennessee. We had a great start with our first Boys U15 team in the fall of 2007.
Our U15 Head Coach and club Director of Coaching is Rob Betchley, a high-school All-American from New York, two-time college All-American at Army, Hudson Valley Chapter Lacrosse Hall-of-Fame
member, and very experienced youth lacrosse coach.
In the summer of 2008, our U15 team made it to the finals of the Trident TILT tournament in Atlanta, defeating teams from GA, SC and NC along the way. We also competed well in Cincinatti against established programs there and at the New England All-Star Tournament in Amherst, MA against teams from Long Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Jersey.
For the summer of 2009, we are not going to field a team. We were taken off-guard by the bizarre US Lacrosse rule that no Under-15 player can have played high school lacrosse. Since one half of the boys on our U15 roster played high school lacrosse in the spring of 2009, our team is no longer eligible. This despite the fact that all meet the age requirement of being under age 15 as of January 1, 2009. Strange indeed.
That
being the case, we are taking the summer of 2009 off and will field an Under 17 team next summer. We are also trying
to create opportunities for all local area players to train and play this summer and fall. Check this site in the spring
for more information on those efforts.
We will always support and complement the existing middle school and high-school based lacrosse programs in the area. If lacrosse is one of your son’s favorite sports and you’re looking for a way to provide him with the best coaching and competition possible, we may be the right club for your son and your family.
